Johnny Rowland was born and raised in Northwest Louisiana and grew up an outdoorsman as well as a shooting and firearms enthusiast. He also cultivated a strong interest in mechanical engineering and broadcasting. In the early 1990′s Johnny Invented “Gun TV” as he produce and host over 800 national television programs, mostly about guns and shooting.
In the late 1990′s, as he worked with firearms manufacturers on a variety of gun and ammunition projects, Johnny realized there was a need and desire for a more powerful, light weight, auto-loading pistol. The “hand cannons” of the day were typically enormous magnum revolvers and, like those of today, were difficult handle, shoot and carry. His solution was the now famous 460 Rowland cartridge and guns featured here.
Johnny’s modified cartage and guns deliver .44 Magnum power to a wide variety of todays compact, lightweight, high capacity, auto-loading .45 caliber pistols and carbines and does so with much less noise, recoil and significantly higher capacity than the .44 Magnum and other monstrous alternatives.
His name-sake .460 Rowland cartridge is, without question, the most successful independently developed cartridge in history and he continues his work on enhancing it as he develops several other projects we hope you will be excited to learn about.
