—Bill

Johnny Has had the Glock running on an individual gun for years and has reciently reviewed and perfected the conversion so that we may offer it to the general public. This conversion has turned out to be every bit as good as we had expected it to be. If you like your Glock M-21 or M-30 you will absolutely love it in the .460 Rowland !

They both run like appliances and with the available 26 round clip from KRISS Industries these AUTHENTIC .460 Rowlands pack over 12 tons of firepower in one load ! That’s more than any other pistol in the world today ! In fact, even when just loading the 8 round clip, the AUTHENTIC Glock M-30.460 ROWLAND is the smallest-most-powerful hand gun in the world today.

The M&P is not working out as well as we had hoped and we will not be offering AUTHENTIC.460 ROWLAND Conversions for this good looking pistol for now. We will pick up on the M&P’s development at some later date.

We had a very good turn out at the Tulsa gun show, thanks for coming out. Johnny and I talked to many of you who already have .460 Rowland conversions, many who just ordered one or two and others who went away thinking about ordering one.

We were were pleased to hear how much you appreciated the advantage of our light weight, high capacity, magnum powered semiautomatic platform for hunting, and for personal carry. The legendary .44 magnum sixgun, LAR .45, or SAE Desert Eagle are some of the pistols you had been using because they had the fire power you needed for hunting and for the serious protection, on and of the trail. But after experiencing the Magnum Power, high capacity, easy shooting and light weight of our semiautomatic pistols you have been telling us that you will never go back to the old, low capacity hand cannons you used to use.

Sure the large alternatives have the Magnum Power in one cartridge that you need and want; but, with .460 Rowland magazine capacities ranging from eight in the traditional 1911 conversion, to 12 and 13 in the XD and Xdm series, and even 25, in the Glock 21 and 30, the actual and effective firepower of our lightweight packages far surpass even the monstrous .50 Caliber Desert eagle.

When you combine Magnum hunting power and accuracy with double, triple, or even four times the firepower, and then you figure in the lightness of weight and easy shooting characters of the Authentic .460 Rowlands you are telling us that you will never go back to the traditional alternatives you used to use.

The .460 Rowland was originally developed a decade ago as a magnum power cartridge suitable for the 1911 pistol. It propels our 185 grain bullet at 1550 ft/sec, delivering over 1000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy. Compare the data and you will see that this is true “Dirty Harry” 44 Magnum performance from your favorite, light weight, easy to shoot, high capacity 1911, Glock M-21, Glock M-30. or from any of the great Springfield XD and XDm style auto loading pistols. ”Often copied but never duplicated”, the AUTHENTIC.460.ROWLAND CONVERSIONS are the real deal.

For a handgunner going afield to hunt large game, the tool of choice has traditionally been a large caliber revolver. Thanks to the efforts of both factory R&D and the developments of custom gunsmiths through the years, we now have big shiny 5 and 6 shooters in calibers from .44 all the way up to .500 available from a variety of sources. And what about those marvelous single shot pistols like the Contender, chambered in everything from .17 to .500? Any way you look at it, handgun hunters have never had it so good. That is, unless you happen to prefer automatic pistols. Well, things have changed.

Now, with the AUTHENTIC.460.ROWLAND conversion system from inventor and developer Johnny Ray Rowland, (and through his new company, 460 Rowland LLC ), the auto loader aficionado can have the power of a .44 Magnum in his or her light weight, high capacity .45 auto pistol and hunt right along side the big boys without feeling undergunned.

While the .460 cartridge is not the only way to get a more potent load into an automatic pistol, I believe it is far and away the most practical. Of the many calibers tried in the 1911, the .460 comes out pretty much at the top in terms of bullet weight and energy. The 45 Super, basically a beefed up 45 case, comes close, (within 300 fps), and is a very tempting alternative. The only problem for me is the fact that the 45 Super case is the same length as the standard 45 ACP and the potential of putting Super ammo into another 45 that is not set up to take it would always be there. The fabulous 44 Auto Mag and the Wildey pistols are certainly up to the task, but they are big, expensive, and hard to find. So is the Auto Mag ammunition for that matter. The great Desert Eagle chambered in .44 Magnum or .50AE has more than enough energy for most hunting applications, but after lugging a chunk of iron that large and heavy around all day, (assuming you are able to find a holster for it), your thoughts will tend to wander toward finding something in a lighter format. The great thing about the AUTHENTIC.460.ROWLAND conversion is that it adds only a little length to the gun, due to the highly effective dual port compensator on the barrel, and that is all. The basic pistol remains unchanged and gains only a couple of ounces, again due to the compensator.

I am considering purchasing one of your 460 conversion kits and had a few questions. I have several 1911′s and wonder which would be the best for this type of conversion. I have Kimbers, Colts, Para Ordnance, and some very old GI colts. I am leaning toward the newer Cold Combat Govt Elite or the Kimber Custom II. The Kimber is a very tight well functioning pistol. The Colt is a blued steel slide on a stainless frame and is not very tight but is 100% reliable also.

Being a drop in kit it has to take into account the variations in dimension and I am not a gunsmith. The Kimber is factory painted in dark earth but I believe it is actually stainless top and bottom. The Colt is chrome steel slide and stainless frame. If you would give me your thought I would appreciate it.
—Kirk

We are temporarily back ordered on our 1911 kits which I hope we can overcome soon. I recommend the Springfield, Colt, Sig or the Kimber as first choices of 1911 autos to convert to an AUTHENTIC.460.ROWLAND. If the Kimber is stainless, then I would definitely go with the Colt and its carbon steel slide– blued or carbon steel is a better material for auto guns in general. (note: Because of its higher coeficent of friction, there is not a single stainless steel first line military weapon in use today. Stainless steel is fine for barrels and revolvers, but sometimes gives reliability issues when stainless steel parts rub against each other.)

We try to avoid old GI guns because of variations in heat treat processes used by different war time makers– we want to be sure the “chassis” of the guns we convert are up to handling the performance of the cartridge.

Springfield XD and Xdm and Glock M-21 and 30 are some new and tremendous alternatives for conversion to AUTHENTIC.460 ROWLAND. They are strong, inexpensive, high capacity, accurate, and absolutly reliable; and with the true .44 Magnum performance that an AUTHENTIC.460 ROWLAND conversion delivers, these modern alternatives become some of the lightest, easiest shooting and most powerful handguns available in the world today.

I like the looks of the MPA Carbine. This gun would serve for both a hunting and Home defense. After watching you blast through that brick wall I’m concerned that the .460 is just too much power for home defense. What would you say is the effective range of the .460 carbine? CorBon has been making an effective .45acp @ 165gr, any thoughts on loading the .460 that light? How about a using a more aerodynamic bullet like the .460 Ruger? I also notice that the MPA carbine comes with an .45acp upper, which is nice, but the “tactical” model doesn’t , do you know why? Also, one of these carbines lists for basically a $1,000.00 which seems high. not sure what your relationship with MPA is but any leads as to where I could pick one up for less than MRSP or used would be appreciated.
—Kevin

We have a “Defense Load” from Georgia Arms that I developed specifically for home defense with less penetration and recoil than the full powered load. This load is still far beyond other pistol calibers, but is an excellent choice for home and self defense. And, yes we are looking into a 165 gr bullet loaded for home defense. Keep an eye on the site.

The $999 carbine package comes with two carbine uppers and scope and case. Of course, you might want to start with the pistol and convert it later on into a carbine.
