I have a surplus of 245 Grain Spitzer .452 diameter jacketed soft point bullets. Considering working up some loads for the 460 Rowland with them. Anything I need to watch out for?
Theoretically speaking, the diameter sounds good. Without experience with exactly what you are describing, we can not directly advise. Should you choose to proceed, we would remind you to start with a lighter charge and work your way up.
I’ve loaded the hornady 225 and 200 grain ftx for mine. The biggest issue is the COL. Unless you remove the red tips , they won’t load in the magazine. You might get first 2 or 3 in , but after the col makes them to long and hang up in the magazine. But i did get some good numbers out of them out of my 4.6″ springfield xdm converion.
But after a lot of loading and testing , i have setteled on an awesome load using either berrys 250 grain or hornady 250 grain xtps over 11.0 grain of longshot . Gives me an average of 1262 fps and an average of 883 ft.lbs. and groups an 1 1/4″ at 30 yds.
